The backstory to eHark Angels

During my sophomore year in college I pledged a service fraternity named Royal Knights Society. The main mission of the fraternity was to provide community service along with service to the university to benefit people. One annual project carried out by the RKS that was a favorite of mine was to visit a local nursing home over the Christmas Holiday season.

The event was scheduled before students were sent home for the holidays. The fraternity members would gather their friends and dates and go to a nursing home with gifts and smiling faces to sing Christmas carols and visits with old people. They were so happy to see us come and so sad to see us leave. Many cried when we left.

Usually, I would stay around after everyone had left and listen to some of the lonelier persons. It brought back personal memories to me when I was a boy and would go with my grandma to visit older folks who were lonely, isolated and in many cases depressed. I would listen to their interesting stories as my grandma would serve them in various capacities. Sometimes she would ask me to fetch stuff, which I was glad to do.

The idea of serving others has been part of me as far back as I can remember. Later, as an adult I became a deacon in the church to serve others. Also, I became a Stephen Minister and a Guardian ad Litem for the same reason; to serve others.

Following two or so years of research regarding loneliness, depression, and isolation among aging seniors especially “Baby Boomers”. I decided to act and establish a Companion Provider Service for Seniors at affordable prices. The company was founded July, 2018.

My daughter’s father in law benefited from a companion service provider during his final months leading to the end of life. It provided a certain kind of peace of mind to the family knowing that their family member was receiving quality caring service.
